“No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you...

I smart people
We are finally getting to the point where we are capturing of the all data surrounding various problems. With access to new data sets various disciplines are beginning to develop better models which describe some seemingly basic problems that have far reaching impact. These new models are being used to create new tools that have the potential to raise the level of education in first world...

slaying the saturday hunger monster!
When you bring home fresh cut filet’s out of the blue, Saturday will cower in the corner like the little girl it is. If you are focused you can crank this out in about 25 minutes. However for me Wednesday’s are for focus and I personally like to drink the rest of the bottle not called for in the recipe. (I don’t like to waste anything). The wicked garlic mustard pan sauce...

2009 is 1/12 over… For the majority of Jan I’ve been bouncing back and forth between my new left coast home in Seattle and a new gig down in Albuquerque. I’m slowing re-acclimating to the mon/thurs airport olympics routine and the gig is keeping me busy. Overall not a bad experience with my slide back into America. When not on the road I’m working out of my new home...

Bimbos Bitchin Burrito Kitchen
I’m offically going into burrito rehab. What started off as a novel infatuation and a symbol of my return has turned into a mild addiction. I found myself at Bimbos (a.k.a Bimbos Bitchin Burrito Kitchen) again last night (after midnight) almost billergent at the fact that the kitchen was closed…
In an attempt to balance out my burrito addiction I spent some time on Saturday...
I was out walking around the Saturday market on Sunday afternoon and I ran into these guys who were absoutely slaying the xylophones. This session went on for something like 15 minutes. It’s not too often that you can say the xylophone rocks (!!!)
wow. I mean, wow.

Wal-Mart worker trampled to death as Long Island shoppers bombard the store at 5AM. Really? Really? This guy dies so you can buy your video games and TVs at a discount? No wonder the world sees us as a bunch of greedy pigs.
They should check the surveillance tapes and charge each person with manslaughter. Enjoy your blood-soaked gifts, you greedy...
thanksgiving
On Thursday nearly 24 hours before I parachutted out of france for good, I stopped by missy’s euro-thanksgiving party. (Thanks again to the whole missy family crew who put together an american style t-giving dinner using only the finest imported ingredients). The pumpkin pie avec real coolwhip was worth the treak across town.
on my way over I swung by the monoprix to pick up some...

coming to america
Currently I am holed up in the Paris Hilton lounge nailing cafes and looking at cars on the internets. I’m back to the NW via Germany tomorrow. I’m basically on holiday until Jan 5th. It’s travel city for the rest of the year. I’m going to be on a north american tour visiting friends/family and racking up some early season days on the mountain. Let me know if anyone...

genius
i allowed my machine to download itunes 8 last night. after about a week of asking, i thought i would finally give in and let it have it’s way. after about 30 minutes of downloading/installing followed by a restart I was presented with the update. If you haven’t tried the genius button it is pretty cool. while mostly a marketing scheme to get you to buy new tracks it is very good...
moving thoughts
I started using tumblr this weekend simply because it is easy. no more screwing around with moveable type. also the style of tumblr is more my speed. i spend most of my day parsing tangential thoughts. trying to put these random thoughts into a single unified theme became too much work. while this site may seem ‘all over the map’ at times that is the point…

While not 100% certain it looks like I will be moving back to the states in November. I’m pretty confident wherever I land will be completely rad. Looking forward to a change. Not so much the packing but whatever is next is welcomed…
i had a quick conversation with jb on friday on the virtues of moving to the midwest. i should be there just in time for the ice season. should be...

the big tilt
Mid-way through this past week I woke up sideways and upside down on my own bed. My summer has been one of extreme travel. Sleeping in my own bed has become one of those rare events which I now approach with the same unfamiliarity as any random hotel room.
Due to this constant logistical dance my suitcase has become the central piece in my living room, gaining as much prominence as my coffee...
